PROBUS VICTORIA
Caravan and Camping Group

ANNUAL REPORT – 2011

General comments from members would indicate this year’s activities were most successful.

Event No. 20 saw 104 members celebrate our tenth birthday at Warrnambool.
The “Funny Hats” event produced some creations which would tend to put those seen at Melbourne’s recent racing carnival rather ‘second-rate’.
We were honoured by a visit by President Irma and Secretary Fay, with friends Jo and Clarice – as reported at the time, they certainly had a ‘smashing’ time.
Bill Jennings and I were honoured and humbled on being there presented with “Certificates of Appreciation” from Probus Victoria in recognition of organising the “Wanderers” over the past ten years – to both of us a labour of love.
Event No. 21 at Cobram was again a most enjoyable get-together, with 98 persons present.
Cobram proved to be a nice, quiet country town – at least until we arrived.  Members found some interesting places to visit,  including Chrystie’s Farm Museum, Birthisel’s Motor-cycle Collection, Cactus Country, the Big Strawberry Restaurant, the club dine-outs, and, of course, Tocumwal Bakery – raided by many of our group for its delectable vanilla slices.
Event No. 22 will be conducted at Bairnsdale in February, 2012, and Event No. 23 at Echuca in October.
On behalf of Bill, myself, and our members I wish to thank the Committee of Probus Victoria for their continued, enthusiastic support, and particularly to President Irma Dymke and Secretary Fay O’Toole for their visits and personal support.
I would also mention that we have ‘captured’ Immediate Past President Wal Fordham and Beryl as regular members of the “Probian Wanderers”.
I also thank Vice President Jim Frew for his excellent coverage of Wanderers activities on the ProbVic web-site.
Currently we have 280 members listed, representing 44 clubs.
