Rochester Probus Bowls Day -

16th April 2012

Dian Wright, Treasurer of PAV and also an enthusiastic bowler, has provided the following report on this event:

"It was a beautiful sunny day when we arrived at Rochester Bowls Club where we were greeted most warmly by the President and Committee of the Rochester Probus Club.

The bowling was well and truly under way with approximately 128 bowlers from Probus Clubs of Rochester, Benalla, Moama, Deniliquin (trying for back-to-back!), Bendigo, Ballarat, Echuca, Rich River, Strathfieldsaye, East Bendigo, and the eventual winners Sandhurst. Congratulations to Sandhurst for a wonderful effort. And I noted, as I wandered around the greens, they were all bowling Probians as they were all wearing their Probus badges!

In the morning the bowlers played 12 ends, and then after lunch they played 2 games of 8 ends.

Following the end of play, an afternoon tea was served, accompanied by beautiful home-made sponges. The saying goes ‘that the success of the day is based on the food. How was your day? Great? The food was fantastic!’ And it was!

I cannot speak too highly of the warm welcome my husband Lew and I received from everyone. Everyone was friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We had a beaut time. It was indeed a pleasure to present the winning trophies.

The town has recovered very well from recent flooding after experiencing horrific flooding in 2011, and the people of this great country town are to be congratulated on their stamina and endurance."

Following are photos taken of the winning teams. Awards were made by PAV Treasurer Dian Wright.
